Application deadlines and other questions

Hello.

I just became aware of the NACC, and I would love to apply. I can't seem to locate some basic information however, and if you can help me out that would be great.

First, what are the closest application deadlines, and what crews are they for? When do those crews start?

Second, I've read about there being two basic types of crews, the 900 hour and the 1700 hour. Is there any difference in the type of work involved in one versus the other? Do you need to be qualified in a different way?

This ones a little less basic, but here it is: On the Coconino County employment application, page 2, half way down, they ask for office skills information. THey have three questions for which they want your WPM. What is the difference between word processing and typing? And what do they mean by dictation? Actually, is that section even something you care about?

I might have more questions later, but that's a start. Thanks in advance.

Deadlines and WPM

Good questions. If you glance to the right, you'll see all of our upcoming deadlines and start dates. Click through to see more details. There is no significant difference between 1700- and 900-hour crews other than the time commitment. Both do the same types of work, and no, there are no special qualifications, other than a ton of initiative and a strong desire to get dirty. Oh, and we certainly won't be asking you to do any typing ;). Hope that helps. Feel free to post any more questions!

Thanks for the response. I

Thanks for the response. I have one follow-up question, and one other question: I see that the September 900 hr crew application deadline is July 24th and the crew starts Sep. 24th, but I don't see when the crew ends. The calendar only goes to January 2008, so that might be why it's not on there, but do you think you could let me know?

Also, I've seen posts on this forum about an interview as part of the application process. How does this work? Do you have to actually travel to Arizona to be interviewed, or can you do it over the phone? I live in Vermont, and I can't afford to travel that far for an interview if I got that far in the selection thingy...

More questions are sure to arise as thinking proceeds. Thanks a lot.

End Dates and Interviews

Ya' know, we don't have our end dates up for those crews yet. I'll remedy that, ASAP. Currently we have our September crews slated to finish up on 14 March, 2008. Oh, and we do phone interviews for folks who aren't already in Flagstaff. We'll even call on our dime ;).
