Backpacks`What would you guys suggest for a backpack? Whenever I do backpacking I borrow someone's pack so I don't have one of my own, but I know I like the internal frame packs better than the external. Any suggestions? How much should I look to spend? Any help would be appreciated. Posted by joshpopelka at 18:54:10 on 4 June 2006.

Backpacks`
hey, josh-
i would definitely go with an internal frame. you're going to need a capacity somewhere between 5,000 and 7,000 cubic inches or about 80 to 100 liters. you could get away with something a little smaller, but you'll probably appreciate the extra room later. prices vary quite a bit, but you can expect to pay between $150 and $300, depending on the features. we have a few pro deals we can tell you about once you start, so if you want to wait to purchase a pack, that should work out with your schedule. if you'd like one sooner, check http://www.campmor.com, http://www.sierratradingpost.com, or http://www.northernmountain.com--they usually have some good deals. good luck!
