YCC

In 2010, the YCC built new trail, brushed miles and miles of existing trail, installed and repaired fences in burn areas and riparian corridors, built rock retaining walls and spillways, bucked hay, marked trees for thinning, surveyed bat habitats, and removed noxious weeds from many acres of public land.

ECC

  1. ECC crews weatherize more than 200 structures for low-income residents and public land managers each year.
  2. From the depths of the Grand Canyon to the most rural areas of Coconino County, no structure is too remote for the ECC to retrofit!
  3. The ECC saves more that 300 megawatt hours of electricity and reduces more than 200 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year.

NACC is a feeder program for several federal agency, state, county, and public service programs.

NACC staff provides extensive support to ensure that our partners can concentrate on the development and logistics of the project.

What we provide

  • The recruitment and training of all Crew Supervisors and Corpsmembers
  • 6-8 person crews comprised of one professional Crew Supervisor, one Assistant Crew Leader and six Corpsmembers
  • Personal protective equipment - Helmet, gloves, ear protections, eye protection, chaps
  • Entire crews trained in Wilderness First Aid
  • Supervisors who are certified as Wilderness First Responders
  • A crew 4WD vehicle, camping equipment, standard trail tool set, chain saws, grip hoist, pionjar, brush cutters, rock stretchers, herbicide equipment, saw gas and oil.
  • Payroll, insurance, worker's compensation insurance, and health insurance
  • Pre-site visits, and administrative support

Youth Conservation Corps

Why choose the YCC?

YCC provides employment and career development opportunities for local young adults ages 15-18 while completing work that benefits the environment and our local communities.

YCC is a feeder program for the Northern Arizona Conservation Corps program (NACC).

YCC staff provides extensive support to ensure that our partners can concentrate on the development and logistics of the project.

We get the job done!

What we provide

  • The recruitment and training of all mentors and Corpsmembers
  • 8 person crew comprised of two mentors and six Corpsmembers
  • Personal protective equipment - Helmet, gloves, ear protections, eye protection
  • Entire crews trained in Basic First Aid
  • A crew vehicle, standard trail tool set, chain saws, grip hoist, pionjar, brush cutters, rock stretchers
  • Payroll, insurance, worker's compensation insurance, and health insurance
  • Pre-site visits and administrative support

  • Trail construction and maintenance
  • Construction and maintenance of fences
  • Restoring wildlife habitat and wildlife surveys
  • Surveying and eradicating exotic plant species
  • Conducting ecological testing and monitoring
