On Friday, CREC's three YCC crews--Flagstaff, Sedona, and Williams--celebrated the end of their season with an awards ceremony at the Coconino county fairgrounds. Surrounded by family, staff, and their crew mentors, twenty-three corpsmembers reflected on their accomplishments and thanked each other for a great summer season. On Monday, three CREC Youth Conservation Corps crews were unleashed on the communities of Flagstaff, Sedona, and Williams. The corpsmembers were more than ready to start work after a week of getting to know each other, being oriented to conservation work, and learning valuable field skills such as First Aid, CPR, and land navigation. We are currently recruiting for this summer's YCC season. If you're a high school student, 15-18 years old, and are looking for the experience of a lifetime, working outdoors on a variety of conservation projects, then get your application in now! CREC will have several YCC crews in the communities of Flagstaff, Sedona, and Williams working in collaboration with the Coconino and the Kaibab National Forests. Positions are limited so don't wait until the last minute to apply, or you may miss out. Check out our YCC page for more information! BenefitsYCC members are paid a stipend of $540 every two weeks, which is the equivalent of $6.75/hour. 17 and 18 year old members are also eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,000 upon successful completion of their 300-hour term. CREC's Youth Conservation Corps is a program designed to introduce high-school aged Corpsmembers to community service and resource conservation through hands-on project work with a variety of land-management and community partners. |
