I am 29 and was wondering if there is still a way to get involved. I have managerial experience and worked with trees for several years. I love that whole area and haven't had an opportunity to come back yet. I have backpacking equipment and would love utilize my gear in a wonderful area.

The equipment list suggests both a pair of hiking and work boots. Is this necessary? Can I just have one pair of all leather hiking boots that are 8" tall? What is the rationale for two pairs of boots? Should the hiking boots be lighter weight than the working pair? Should we expect to wear/carry both pairs on the overnights?

Is there a set schedule or is it different every year? Looking at the calendar it seems like there is a new one starting every other month...?
